I'm not sure if Box Day is a strictly Sonlight related phrase for getting next year's curriculum or an overall understanding among other homeschooling families, but alas, we had our box day for the 2022 school year.  Wait, 2022, you ask? Yes, for us, our school year begins in January.  To take part in deals and use a few coupon codes I had to receive, I usually order our curriculum sometime during the summer.  Also, ordering a while before we use it allows me to set it up and prep it ahead of time, and this year, with our Baby Bird, I may need a little extra time.

So, what did we order?

Amazon:

I bought two new art books for us to use over the next, at least, two years. The Evan Moor: Art Work for Kids and Art for All Seasons. I like the simplicity of the lessons, the instructions, and the variety of projects each book contains.  I combine these projects with artist studies and other random Pinterest finds throughout the year.

Then, since we have Bird in our midst, we will be shifting our focus to baby sign language by using Baby Signing Time from Signing Time. I got all 4 DVDs as well as the Flash Cards.

Rainbow Resources:

I ordered our science that we will also use for the next 2-3 years. Apologia's Zoology Vol 1-3.  I got these during the 25% off sale and went ahead and splurged on get the audio discs in the event time becomes an issue with having a toddler in our midst next year.  I went ahead and got junior notebooks for Thumper and regular notebooks for Mouse.  I have loved using Answeres in Genesis' Science, but I wanted something different for my enthusiastic future veterinarians, and I hope this is it.

I'm adding to our electives for the next few years.  We will be adding in a Cooking and Backing Session on our Supplemental Saturday.  I know how to cook and bake, but breaking things down is often hard for me, and hopefully, these will help. The girls will also be taking on keyboarding with an online program and then later Keyboarding for Homeschoolers from Computer Instruction Services.  We always do copy work, so I picked up some workbooks from mindset Moments for cursive and handwriting.

Sonlight:

By far, our most oversized box for our box day was from Sonlight. This box held for each of the girl's following levels of Math from Math U See and decimal inserts needed for Zeta.

The majority of the box's contents were History/Bible/Literature F: Eastern Hemisphere, which Mouse will use next year.  It also contained a few upgrades for History/Bible/Literature B: Introduction to World History Year 1 of 2 to use with Thumper next year.  When I used B with Mouse, I bought it used and decided to upgrade the Instructor guide, along with some of the books that had changed.  Some of the new books I purchased from Thrift Books.

I always look forward to purchasing our new curriculum each year. Even though I have a general idea of what I will order, it is the highlight of my year to click the buttons and add them to my cart.  I may have a few more things to collect, and those updates I will include in my curriculum choices blog post in 2022.
