2021 1st Grade Curriculum Choices

Core K.PNG

Thumper will officially be a full-fledged 1st Grader at the age of 6 (almost 7) for this 2021 School Year.  I was going to originally do a gap year in sonlight with her, as I was not ready to do Core B with her again, since she just sat in on it two years ago with her sister.  Then Sonlight came out with a new level K American History, which solved my dilemma of what to do in our gap year.  So, she will be using Sonlight History/Bible/Literature Core K: American History.

She will continue using All About Reading Level 2 this year (and I plan on having level 3 handy just in case she again goes faster than I anticipate for the year).  Midway through this year I will be adding in All About Spelling Level 1 (very slowly) and I will also add in Sonlight Grade 1 Readers this year as well.

We will pick up Math U See by starting Beta This year.  I plan to take this very slowly with her and do not plan on continuing right away into Gamma, should she finish early.  We will focus on review those skills and I will evaluate if she will truly be ready for multiplication before 2nd grade if we get to that point.

She will also keep using Exploring Handwriting through US Geography and Through Scripture (print) for her copy work this year as I mentioned in the blog post about our combined curriculum choices on Monday.
