Fractured Fairy Tales Lessons & Activities

$3.00

3 Lesson and Activities Related to Fractured Fairy Tales:

  • ·What if... think of the other side: for this Lesson, you will need a normal fairy tale and a fractured fairy tale to read aloud. I recommend The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs by Lane Smith (my favorite) or an of the The other side of the story series by Nancy Loewen, there are several of them (Cinderella, Beauty & the Beast, Jack and the Bean Stalk, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Red Riding Hood, Goldilocks, etc). Just make sure your "normal fairy tale" is the same "story" as your fractured fairy tale. They will use the worksheet to compare and contrast the two stories.

  • Comparing the Story: In Groups or individually, students will compare a fairy tale and a fractured fairy tale, examining the points of view from each story. They will identify four plot points that offer a different perspective.

  • Retell the Story: In groups or individually, students will take a known fairy tale (from the available ones in class or one they know from memory) and retell or rewrite the tale from a different perspective. They will use the worksheet to explain key parts that would change in the story. Spot the Difference Worksheet: This worksheet is designed to accompany the "What if... Think of the Other Side" Lesson. The student will use the chart to compare and contrast the two stories.
